About the
study

The goal of the NOD study is to understand the relationship between high blood sugar and pancreatic cancer. This research is supported by the National Institutes of Health, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the American Diabetes Association and multiple medical institutions across the country.

Why is
this study
important?

In an extremely small number of people, high blood sugar is related to pancreatic cancer. Finding pancreatic cancer earlier leads to better survival. But right now, there is no standard way to detect the disease early. Scientists believe we can find a way to do this by studying people with high blood sugar. We need people like you to help gather more information to fight this disease.

What does
participation involve?

  1. 4 visits over 2 years

    • Each visit will last 30–45 minutes
    • You will have your blood drawn
    • You will answer health questions
  2. A phone survey 3 years after enrolling, and some participants may be asked to return for another visit at that time

  3. You will learn ways to lower and manage your blood sugar
